A friend of mine thought that they could have touched on the area of gender and made it a post-gender era. That would be quite interesting, I doubt that would fly high as for as viewing numbers goes. Offcourse, in the end, it was a typical Hollywood movie, in the sense that it was heteronormative and very etnocentric. It's interesting how the US miitary is one of the more integrated sectors as for as it goes for race, but this is not seen on Hollywood movies.
It reminded me of an episode of The Dave Chappelle show where Paul Mooney was commenting the etnocentrism seen in Hollywood movies. This is the quote:
Paul Mooney: I mean Hollywood is crazy, The Last Samurai starring...Tom Cruise? He's the last samurai? Give me a break, that movie was offensive, I mean hollywood is crazy. First they had The Mexican with Brad Pitt and now they have The Last Samurai with Tom Cruise. Well i've written a film, maybe they'll produce my film. The Last N*gger On Earth starring Tom Hanks how about that.
And on that note.
